Paris Île de France

The Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, Louvre Museum, Versailles, The Pompidou Centre… The museums and monuments are THE must-see attractions in Paris Île-de-France.

On top of this historic and yet unique heritage in the very heart of our capital region there are major sites in the outskirts of Paris such as the MAC/VAL, the leading museum of cotemporary arts.  For stunning exhibitions of indigenous art, with more than 3 500 works on display, visitors can experience the arts and culture of Africa, Asia and the Americas at the newly-built museum of Quai Branly, conceived by architect Jean Nouvel. Furthermore, there is the Arts Décoratifs Museum housed in an entirely renovated space with original lighting effects.

As a compliment to this ever evolving offer of museums, there are cultural events that highlight the dynamic nature of art that is so characteristic of Paris and the region. Autumn/Winter 2006 is punctuated with exhibitions such as “Once upon a time…Walt Disney” at the Grand Palais, “Venice and the Orient” at the Institut du Monde Arabe and Rembrandt and his “Eaux Fortes” at the Petit Palais.

2007 will be just as exciting. The Palais Chaillot welcomes the new City of Architecture and Heritage in March and the Grande Halle de la Villette will re-open its doors during the month of September. The Pompidou Centre will celebrate its 30th anniversary and Disneyland Paris its 15th anniversary. Sport events will be top of the bill in 2007 with the French Open tennis at Roland Garros, the Tour de France and the Rugby World Cup taking place in September and October.

Fashion, shopping, opera, cabaret, star restaurants, bistros, gardens….. Combining the French art of living (art de vivre) with hospitality.

Accommodation for long or short term stays is just a couple of clicks away. Hotel chains, charming inns, accommodation in the homes of Parisians, apartment rentals and original accommodation offering a more intimate atmosphere are all at your disposal.

Themed guides are available related to cinema, contemporary art, impressionism… and soon architecture. We will do our utmost to make your trip as enjoyable as possible and to make it another major event for our region.
