Limousin

A perfect destination for cycling and relaxing

During the 18th century Arthur Young wrote : “as for the general beauty, I prefer Limousin more than other province of France... The beauty of Limousin does not depend upon any one particular aspect, but the combination of many. Hills, valleys, forests, hedgerows, rivers, lakes, scattered farms from thousand delicious landscapes with beauty the countryside.”

Limousin is set on the western tip of Massif Central. It’s still  a land of traditions, preserved environment,  peaceful, with uninhabited landscapes, rivers, lakes and valleys such as the Dordogne, combined with medieval villages, Limoges porcelain and enamels and Aubusson tapestries to provide visitors with an alluring

The two Natural Regional Parks “Périgord-Limousin” and “Millevaches” offer a great variety of fauna and flora as well as heritage with many villages built with local savoir-faire and materials. Numerous sign posted trails for ramblers and cyclists cover the area.

If you love nature, probably one of the other reasons which attracts you to France is food. Who can blame you ? In Limousin you will find an abundance of ingredients on the stalls of the local markets and in the restaurants offering local specialities based on centuries of respect for high-quality produce often combined with original recipes. The basis of the gastromy is the famous “limousin beef and lamb”, the fruits of the forest (mushrooms, chestnuts...), the apples (“golden delicious”)...
